Enough Seriousness

I feel like I’ve talked enough about the new world for now. You wanna hear something funny? I woke up from a 15 segment long nap this afternoon, and walked to the market. I was almost late to work, but I made it just in time. I thought my boss was gone for the day, and since I think of myself as a decent employee, I thought I would help him out for the day. So I gathered all the employees into the conference room, and told them “Look, the boss is gone, and I think I have it in me to step up to the plate today.” I pointed at the brand new staff member, and told him to start cleaning up around the district. He looked at me, shrugged his shoulders, and did as I asked. I then told our group of techies to do what they do every day, and they went on their way. Everyone else that remained, I told them to look busy. As everyone left the conference room, I sighed heavily, and smiled. “I think this is going excellent!”, I told myself, as I walked into the bosses office, and sat in his chair. I put my feet up, and closed me eyes.

Not even 30 units after I sat down, my boss slams open the door. His face, beet red with anger, glared at me with the absolute scariest look you could imagine. He somewhat gently said “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Nothing came out of my mouth. “This time he screamed, “ WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” I stood up, and tried to explain myself, saying that I thought I was helping. “Sir, I just thought… since I… I thought I was doing good…” He didn’t let me finish my incoherent sentence. “I have briefed everyone on stuff like what you just pulled. You’re going to the Brig. I can’t deal with this today.” He called the guards, blah blah blah, I went to jail for 2 and a half segments. Not too bad, but at the time I’m writing this, I just got out not too long ago.

At least this entry wasn’t a complaint fest like my other two. I know this whole Catastrophe thing is very serious, and rebuilding our lives really is important, but I find that sometimes the best thing to do is to just find the funny things throughout your life. The people that can find the lighthearted things in their day to day actions are the ones who mean well, because they know when it’s time for seriousness, and time for relaxing.

And by the way, no, this probably won’t be the last time I attempt this stunt I pulled.

  1. The Brig!? For ordering people around at work? Insubordination, maybe, but a frakking crime? And I thought I had some harsh bosses...
