Universities

Universities may be few in number, but each is a vital lifeline in humanity’s efforts to recover from the Catastrophe. Knowledge is a matter of survival, and these impressive institutions live to serve its cause.
It’s here that, via a system of nanite injections, citizens can acquire the skills for life in this challenging universe. From combat and engineering, to medicine, business, and many other fields, each university offers a range of courses that reflect the specialisms of its esteemed faculty. Some offer advanced courses, while others cater more for entry-level students.
Citizens hoping to enrol must meet the prerequisites for their chosen course and be able to afford the fees. Those who make the effort will find that life becomes altogether easier when supported by a solid base of skills and knowledge.
Cape Verde
Situated on one of the Consortium’s most-prized research stations, it’s no surprise this place offers a host of scientific courses. Its Advanced Ship Engineering program is second to none and contains a vast array of sub-topics. Other areas of excellence include Construction and Space Navigation.
Moissan
Though a smaller institution, Moissan University caters well for those wanting introductory courses in Ship Technology, Space Navigation, Leadership, and Syndicate Foundation. It’s considered a useful place to top up one’s education while passing through Alpha Centauri system, but few travel from far and wide to visit. The University itself seems resigned to this and, unlike counterparts in Sol system, undertakes minimal efforts to market its offerings to those from further afield.
Nouveau Limoges
Although lacking in Combat courses, the Université of Nouveau Limoges is nonetheless considered exemplary for its Basic Engineering program, while its First Aid and Anatomy courses are respected and admired by experts of all affiliations.
The facility also attracts aspiring diplomats with its superb International Relations pathway, originally taught by some of the original negotiators of the Nouveau Limoges Accords. Those interested in spaceship operations will find a small number of entry-level offerings, but little that would excite an expert.
Spirit of Botswana
A popular institution, primarily owing to its Advanced Combat and Special Ops courses which attract a fairly diverse range of customers. Most of those who handle weapons for a living, either legally or illegally, pass through its doors at one time or another.
A small selection of other fields are catered for via a handful of Engineering courses, but there’s no doubting that this institution serves the cause of efficient and ruthless combat above all else.
Tau Station
A highly-respected institution renowned for its courses in Basic and Intermediate-level Combat, Business Bureaucracy, and Engineering. Overseen by some of the Consortium’s leading minds, there are few better places to begin one’s education in these fields.
Also on offer are a number of other well-regarded, entry-level courses in the fields of Medicine, Leadership and Ship Operations, but these rarely go further than an initial introduction aimed at total beginners.
