Peace is a natural effect of trade.

Peace may not be the first word that comes to mind when walking through a market in the Tau Station universe. From the raucous harmony of a vendor hawking his wares, to the acrid, metallic taste lingering in the air after a potential customer tests out a gun at the Hephaestus Weapon Tech booth, the Market place is always one of the most chaotic and vibrant areas on a station.
Recently we showed you a glimpse of what our very talented artists were creating in as far as space travel. This week, we invite you to enjoy a small tour of some of the many interesting aspects of our market places.

One of Tau Station’s goals is to build a game that can be accessed by all players. For the UI Team this means focusing on usability and accessibility.
We are working hard to implement Tau Station’s Inventory.

Cirque Centauri, once a mecca of leisure, hospitality, and entertainment, is again open for business. Back in its Golden Era, the station was a luxury destination for travelers wishing to see death-defying acts, go on thrilling rides, bask in opulence, and sample delicacies from all over the star systems. At one time a thriving station with high-end hotels, galaxy-class restaurants, a spectacular circus, and the finest of recreational activities, Cirque Centauri was the gem of the system, with visitors traveling from far and wide to indulge in the station’s wonders and delights. Until it all came crashing down…

Space is big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist’s, but that’s just peanuts to space.
The universe of Tau Station is indeed a ‘mind-bogglingly big’ place. In an effort to make it a little less daunting, we’re launching a tour of some of the many places you may discover throughout your journeys in Tau Station. Read the first of our Galactic Destinations series below as you walk into an Inn on København known as the The Mermaid…

I shut my eyes in order to see.
The eyes, it is said, are the windows into the soul. With a little tweaking, we have made this window something a little more functional from the other side as well. Enter the CORETECHS, a happy and successful marriage of form and function. Brought to you by Benevolent Dynamics, one of the corporations you will find within the Tau Station universe, the CORETECHS is a blend of in-game utility and immersive storytelling.

In earlier articles we looked at the way we use “economic exchanges” to simplify complex code into a series of small understandable steps. We use similar ideas to build up business logic in our DBIx::Class model layer: combining multiple small predefined queries together to create more complex conditions for generating SQL queries against the database.
Read on below if you take the challenge to read “0011001010” language of our database experts who love to share knowledge with you again about clean code.

There is a common understanding among all walks of conscious life: rules exist. Human-kind, through careful tailoring by social norms, have a set agreement about what those rules are and that agreement is put into a system of laws. The laws put boundaries on acceptable behavior. They protect and secure and sometimes oppress and restrict. But they exist and like everywhere else in the recognizable human experience, the breaking of those laws leads to detainment and incarceration. The universe of Tau Station is no different.
We are all that is left of humanity. Our laws matter.
Read on below about what we call “law and order” in our days, but what is a special experience in Tau Station. Try to avoid going to…the brig!
