Planets – Not a Galactic Destination

The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned. Maya Angelou

We live among the stars, drifting through the Black on orbital stations that emulate the conditions we require to stay alive. Our life, however, did not begin up here. It began far below, on planets that we can look down upon from our lofty perches and dream of returning to.

However, we cannot. At least not right now…

Galactic Pilgrimage – Chapter VI: Ross 154

This tenspan we take our galactic pilgrimage towards the farther flung and uniquely amalgamated system of Ross 154. The collection of stations that orbit this lone Red Dwarf took a lot longer to bring back into the fold, resulting in a number of unique cultural idiosyncrasies forming around their societies.

Galactic Pilgrimage – Chapter V: L 726-8 A

The blades of morality swing far and wide on the pendulum of independence of the binary red dwarf system that is L 726-8 A. Three stations dance around the lifeless planetoid of K.Kochansky that itself orbits Luyten 726-8 A. In the distance, Luyten’s binary sibling, UV Ceti, can be seen winking cheekily with its routine flares at all who travel here. Join us for a pilgrimage through stations of vastly different types of people who have made this star system their home.

Galactic Pilgrimage – Chapter IV: Sirius

Not only is playtime decidedly over, but the adults have been expelled from the playground and the children have formed tribes and fashioned crude weapons! Welcome to the Sirius System, Chapter IV of our Galactic Pilgrimage. Here in, as the locals have designated, the Apples of Discord, Freebooting is the name of the game. Law takes a back seat to a hedonism and anarchy that maintains its status-quo by threat of mutually assured destruction.

Galactic Pilgrimage – Chapter III: Barnard’s Star

Our galactic pilgrimage turns to its third chapter, that of Barnard’s Star. Now, we have stepped off the comfort of our front porch, we are no longer even on the relative safety of the pavement. We have moved far from home, things are beginning to get hairy! The two largest members of our gang of humanity, the Consortium and Gaule, warily (and literally) orbit each other from a distance. They keep a narrow-eyed dance on the farthest edges of the system, circling Van de Kamp and sizing each other up. As a result of this, humanity’s first rebellious children in the form of one Freebooter and one Independent station maintain a bemused vigil closer to the center.

Hollow Seen Around the Corner!

“Hollow Seen around the corner!”

The cry filters down the hallway from just ahead and is immediately followed by the sounds of a number of people, young and old, screaming and running. Dim lighting casts strange and jagged shadows as the echo of…something…follows them, reverberating round the bend in the dark corridor ahead.

The chaotic cacophony predicts the visual of a panicked throng rounding the corner and sprinting, pell-mell in your direction! It is only as they get closer that you can make out squealing delight mixed in with the exhilarated screams of playful fear.

“Hollow Seen!” Somebody yells again to the accompaniment of peals of laughter as they run past you.
